Risk Markets Consulting (RMC) is the natural product of more than 20 years of trading, brokering, and teaching options. RMC Principal Gavin Rowe has traded derivatives both off-floor and as a market-maker since the mid-1990s. Academic training and professional experience gives historical perspective that drives understanding and adaption to the nuances of pattern change in market behavior. Either as a Specialist or as Head of U.S. option market-making for a large financial institution, Mr. Rowe traded successfully through a wide series of market-defining events:
• Long-Term Capital Management Failure/Asian Financial Crisis
• Technology Boom of the late 1990s
• Technology Bust of the early 2000s
• Iraq War beginning in 2003
• Real Estate Boom of the mid 2000s
• Financial Crisis of 2008/9
• Flash Crash
Mr. Rowe brought his trading experience to the financial technology/option broker/dealer space and focused on improving order execution algorithm design and bringing non-exchange-based liquidity into more frequent contact with client orders. Market microstructure and exchange technology continue to be a priority interest.
Education is a core element of RMC. Mr. Rowe has taught option trading to a global institutional and private client list since the late 1990s, beginning with the International Trading Institute. Mr. Rowe has conducted workshops internationally and across the United States, and RMC’s Chicago home base provides a geographically central, easily accessible travel destination for attendees today.
